Learning place value up to one hundred is simple and fun using this cute visual activity. Your printable place value village just needs people!
Here's how it works:
- Print your village on card stock and cut out each building. Optional- laminate them for durability.
- Attach each building to a separate container.. I used poster putty, but double sided tape works great.
- Use craft sticks (or any counting objects. (Ex. beans, counting chips, beads, mini erasers. etc.) to represent the people who live in in each "place".
- When each house is filled, group the "people" by ten (use rubber bands to group craft sticks, or group objects in snack baggies) and move them to their new place. The ones house can only hold 9 people, tens house can only hold 99, and the hundreds house can only hold 999 before the people need to move to the thousands house!
Example: For the number 127 there would be ten groups of ten in the hundreds house, two groups of ten in the tens house, and seven groups of one in the ones house. Printable instructions are included with the download file.
